Dreaming in Character

Stay Cool, Honey Bunny, Stay Cool

It was the kind of heat that caused empires to fall.

(No, wait.)

It was the kind of heat that made baby animals cry.

(No, wait. I can do better.)

It was the kind of heat that left a piece of me right where I’d been with every step I took, the kind that melts your flesh right off your bones, the kind zombies live for because it pre-cooks their meals. The kind of heat that no one in their right mind would ask to endure if asking was even an option. The kind that drives sane men mad and mad men sane, that shakes the world and turns it inside-out.

Long story short: fellow northwesterners, how are you all doing in this heat wave? Surviving okay? Please, stay hydrated, exercise either early or late in the day, and keep yourselves safe. If you take a cool shower, ending on hot will actually keep you cooler than ending on cool or cold. Dip your feet in cool water if you can, find some shade, curl up with a good book (self-promo: how about Dragonthology?), try to keep your sense of humor.

No way, it's too damn hot to blossom.

No way, it’s too damn hot to bloom.
